Apel began in 1999, in Malibu, but its roots run five generations deep, a family of engineers and architects whose hands shaped the built world long before this name was ever drawn.
It was founded by a designer, an artist who chose to live in the world of architecture, driven by a single fire: the belief that a building is not a shelter but a life, and that people deserve to live inside art, not merely look at it.
From the Stoics, the discipline to build what lasts. From the Tao, the wisdom to yield, to let a place find its own form, the way water bends around the tree. Nothing forced. Nothing hurried. Everything whole.
This is why we do not only design. We build what we draw, and we live in what we build. Our own craftsmen, the A-Team, shape by hand the custom work inside these places, the pieces that make a house a life.
And after years at the table with major developers, across more than a thousand buildings, we learned where the process breaks, and found a way to do it smoother, and to do it our way.
Apel Experience was born from all of it. Only after living inside these places ourselves, and knowing they were true, did we open them to others. We offer nothing we have not first lived.
This is the art of living. And it is only the beginning of the book.
